America On Trial Inc. (AOT) is a grassroots justice organization addressing mass incarceration, police violence, exploitation, and systemic injustice while building pathways toward freedom, dignity, and self-determination.

Emerging from the 2020 racial justice uprisings, AOT has evolved from protest and advocacy into a broader approach to change: challenging harmful systems while building community-based alternatives rooted in collective power and economic self-determination.

Today, AOT’s work centers on three interconnected areas:

Justice & Advocacy: Abolition and Decarceration

Through the AOT Justice Affinity Group, AOT centers the voices, experiences, and leadership of currently incarcerated people. Our broader advocacy brings together system-impacted people, organizers, advocates, and allies to challenge mass incarceration, police violence, and systemic injustice while advancing decarceration and pathways to freedom.

#AIRS & Media Justice: Challenging Carceral Narratives

Through the #AIRS Campaign — Abolish Incarcerated Reality Shows, AOT challenges the commercialization and exploitation of incarceration through entertainment and media. Our media justice work advances narrative change and advocates for ethical, truthful, and human-centered storytelling that recognizes the humanity of incarcerated people.

AOT Liberty Freedom Farm:Land, Food & Economic Liberation

Through AOT Liberty Freedom Farm in Greene, New York, AOT is building a land-based community resource connecting food cultivation, ecological stewardship, healing, reentry, workforce development, and economic opportunity. The Farm advances community-led liberation by creating pathways to land stewardship, practical skills, and greater economic self-determination for people impacted by incarceration and their families.

From Organizing to Advocacy to Building

AOT believes communities should not only have a voice in changing the systems that affect them; they should have the power and resources to build something different.

By connecting criminal justice advocacy, decarceration, media justice, narrative change, and land-based economic opportunity, AOT works toward a future where communities can create and sustain their own pathways to justice, freedom, and collective well-being.
