America On Trial Inc. (AOT) is a grassroots organization working to address the harms of mass incarceration, police violence, exploitation, and systemic injustice while building pathways toward freedom, dignity, and self-determination.

AOT emerged from the 2020 racial justice uprisings and has evolved from protest and advocacy into a broader approach: challenging systems that cause harm while building community-based alternatives.

Today, AOT’s work centers on three interconnected areas:

Justice & Advocacy
Through the AOT Justice Affinity Group, AOT creates a space specifically centered on the voices, experiences, and leadership of people who are currently incarcerated. Beyond the Affinity Group, our broader justice and advocacy work brings together people impacted by the criminal legal system, organizers, advocates, and allies to address mass incarceration, police violence, and systemic injustice.

#AIRS & Media Justice
Through the #AIRS Campaign — Abolish Incarcerated Reality Shows, we challenge the commercialization and exploitation of incarceration through entertainment and media while advocating for more ethical, truthful, and human-centered storytelling.

Land, Food & Economic Liberation
Through AOT Liberty Freedom Farmi n Greene, New York, we are building a land-based community resource connecting food cultivation, ecological stewardship, healing, reentry, workforce development, and economic opportunity. The Farm reflects our belief that liberation also requires access to land, food, skills, resources, and opportunities to build sustainable lives.

Across our work, AOT believes that communities should not only have a voice in changing the systems that affect them—they should have the power and resources to build something different.

From organizing, to advocacy, to building, AOT works toward a future where communities have the power to create and sustain their own pathways to justice, freedom, and collective well-being.
