Campaigns We Support

  • Campaign to Close Rikers

The Campaign to Close Rikers is led by survivors and family members who’ve been directly impacted by the injustice and torture of New York City jails, with the support of faith leaders, service providers, community organizations, and other allies. Here are some of the leaders of the movement.

  • End Qualified Immunity NY

EndQINY is a grassroots campaign working End Qualified Immunity in New York State through the passage of New York Senate Bill S182 and Assembly Bill A710 to ensure that victims have access to justice and that New York is safer for all.

In just over a year we have successfully advocated for 23 NYS Senators and 42 NYS Assembly Members to sign on as sponsors to the Bill to End Qualified Immunity – with support throughout New York State.

Our campaign is led by individuals and families of those who have been directly impacted by brutality at the hands of law enforcement. We educate and organize our communities to advocate for legislative changes to enhance public safety in New York and address the systemic oppression and violence inflicted on our communities at the hands of law enforcement.

Who else is fighting to End Qualified Immunity in NY?

  • The G.A.N.G.S. Coalition

The G.A.N.G.S. Coalition’s mission is to end systems that target, surveil, harass, and criminalize the association of young Black and Latinx people, and advance harm-reducing investments and community-based programs that are proven to make neighborhoods safer.  The criminalization of gangs, crews, and association is often based on housing location, particularly NYCHA developments, and is a continuation of a long-standing practice of racist enforcement.
